Secondly, they take some interesting new liberties with the old "killin' zombies" gameplay that folks have come to love from Left 4 Dead.As firearms are at a premium on the island, it's primarily about the melee weapons. Weapons can be bartered for with other NPC vendors and have traits that you might have seen in the old Diablo series as far as weapon drops (ie: Weak Blunt Morningstar, Sharp Electric Khurki, etc), include the "green-blue-purple-orange" item rarity scale, and regularly decay with use. Our team left the safe house armed to the teeth with shivs, bats and clubs, only to limp back to the safe house after breaking most of our makeshift gear. All gear can be repaired at a workbench, as well as upgraded with a variety of items you can find on the island, like batteries, nails, electric conduits, and the like. As ranged weapons are at a premium and some enemies are lethal at close range, you are able to throw everything you can pick up at zombies. You can even go so far as to throw a bladed weapon at a zombie, get it stuck in the zombie's head, pull the weapon back out, and then continue to hack at the zombie that you've targeted. Definitely satisfying.
